With so many children still not able to return to school, Stockport charity Seashell Trust, is launching a competition, #makingsensoryofitall, to support home schooling, focused on learning about the senses.
The aim is to raise awareness of some of the challenges that the children and young people at Seashell face, some of whom have more than one sensory impairment; as well as keeping children busy and interested in the final push up to the summer break!
The competition is open to all types of art from paintings and sculptures to knitting and needle felting, along the theme of the senses and will run from 29th June to 31st July.
The first theme is sight and Seashell will be adding lots of sensory information to their social media feed over the next five weeks for inspiration so are also asking people to follow them to learn something new! There will be a winner for each one of the five senses, who will each receive a £20 Amazon voucher, thanks to the trust’s supporters at Amazon at Manchester Airport.
Entry to the competition is free but Seashell Trust would love people to consider making a small donation to help us continue our vital work during COVID-19. If just 50 families donated £3 each, the charity could provide specialist apps to enable our families to communicate while apart.
Entries can be made by posting a picture of your creation on Seashell Trust’s social media using the hashtag #makingsensoryofitall or by sending an email of the artwork to the Seashell Trust’s fundraising team. Please note the charity can’t accept entries via ‘stories’. All competition terms and conditions are on the Seashell Trust website.
Please contact Jo Barber with any questions about getting involved.
