Schools from across the borough are taking part in this year’s ‘bike and scoot’ initiative supported by Stockport Council.
The Council’s ‘bike and scoot’ initiative encourages pupils, parents and staff to ride or scoot to school in a bid to reduce traffic pollution and increase daily exercise.
Each school that signs up will be able to compete against each other on an online map of the UK by filling in the number of bikes and scooters that arrive at their school.
This year’s route takes participants back in time with a historic theme from
Cavemen, Greeks, Romans, Victorians on a journey to the present day. Each time a school visits a different historic period staff can download resources to allow pupils to learn about that period. The site can be viewed at www.bigbikerace.co.uk
The initiative will run for three weeks, from Monday 7th to 24th May.
