SAS Daniels duo celebrate 20 years on Greek Street

It’s 20 years since Jonathan Whittaker, SAS Daniels’ Senior Partner, and Maria Goddard, the legal firm’s Office Manager, came to work on Greek Street in Stockport.

Stockport’s busy and iconic ‘Greek street’ is recognisable for Stockport Art gallery to the East and The Armoury pub and Edgeley roundabout to the West.

The firm can in fact trace its roots back to Greek Street in the 1950s when the road was a hotspot for firms of solicitors, with up to 10 firms competing on the modest-sized street. Over the years many solicitors closed or merged and today SAS Daniels’ flagship office building at 30 Greek Street is the most recognisable.

Jonathan joined the firm in 1996 as a litigation lawyer and has risen through the ranks to become Senior Partner, Head of the Employment law team and a respected employment law Judge.

Maria has been his trusted assistant throughout the years and now manages the smooth running of the Stockport, Chester, Congleton and Macclesfield offices.

Jonathan and Maria were an Employment team double act for over 19 years, longer than many of the marriages handled by our Family law team!  Only in 2015 did Maria take on the new challenge of Office Manager leaving Jonathan to reflect on how much harder life had become without her.

To mark this 20 year milestone, SAS Daniels will be holding a celebratory lunch for Jonathan and Maria to thank them for their contributions to the firm. Congratulations Jonathan and Maria, here’s to Stockport’s finest duo!
