North West law firm, SAS Daniels, has marked the launch of a major exhibition at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery with a highly successful private event.
The firm, which is the main sponsor of Northern artist Helen Clapcott’s exhibition, ‘A Portrait of Stockport’, recently hosted a well-attended exclusive viewing at the gallery. Local members of the business community were joined by local dignitaries, including the Mayor of Stockport Councillor Suzanne Wyatt and her consort Mayoress Melanie Braviner, to enjoy a bustling evening of networking and refreshments while viewing over 100 of Helen’s works.
‘A Portrait of Stockport’, a retrospective exhibition featuring depictions of the post-industrial landscape of Helen Clapcott’s hometown, Stockport, will be open to visitors until the 25th January. The exhibition also features a 20-minute video on Helen and her work made by Tony Halton Films, and the first major monograph on the artist, ‘In the Light of Buildings’, written by Andrew Lambirth and published by Lund Humphries, will be available to purchase at the gallery.
Katie Hodson, partner, head of employment and joint head of Stockport office at SAS Daniels, added:
“This exhibition isn’t just about art, it’s about Stockport. Our history, our landmarks, our shared experiences. As the main sponsor of ‘A Portrait of Stockport’, we at SAS Daniels are thrilled to support Helen, who captures the very essence of our town beautifully. We are fortunate to have an artist of this calibre representing our town’s beauty and spirit, bringing familiar scenes and landmarks to life with such vivid emotion and skill.
“We are truly excited about the exhibition, as it celebrates not only an amazing artist, but also everything that makes Stockport special. It’s an opportunity to highlight our culture, our creativity, and our sense of community, which continue to thrive, year after year. On behalf of SAS Daniels, we are deeply honoured to sponsor this exhibition and look forward to continuing our longstanding commitment to this incredible town.”
