As entries flood in for the Big Stockport 10km and the Family 1km fun runs on Sunday 20th September, organisers Life Leisure has just released the much awaited route map for the 10km circuit which is set around the heart of Stockport.
The Big Stockport Run, sponsored by Orbit Developments will start and end in St. Petersgate in the town centre. Runners will head off towards Millgate Bridge, through Vernon Park before heading back towards Millgate, then onto Mersey Square and out alongside the River Mersey, before passing along Yew Street by the Pyramid, across the A6 and returning back onto St Petersgate.
The Big 10km run is aimed at runners of all abilities and entries are open for anyone aged 16+, whilst the Big 1km is a new addition to the event and promises to provide plenty of fun for all the family. Entrants can run, walk or complete the course as a group in whatever way they wish, it’s up to them!
Neil Bardsley, Sport Development Manager at Life Leisure said:
“The run which is in its fourth year has become a firm favourite, not only in the competitive running calendar but also amongst locals in Stockport. It’s just such a great day; there is wonderful camaraderie amongst everyone taking part, whether they are elite runners or fun runners raising money for their chosen charity.
“We will again be using chip timing technology, which means we can get the results out quickly. Everyone wants to know what time and position they achieved, whether they are at the front or the back of the race, with many aiming to improve their times from last year’s event! There is still time to enter, and to put in a bit of extra preparation, whether it’s your first time or you are in it to win it.”
The Big 10km Run starts at 10am, advance booking costs just £15 per person, and £13 for UKA affiliated athletes. Team entry is £50 for a team of 5. The Big 1km run starts at 10.15am – £5 per entry.
