Robinsons Brewery have joined forces with utility management specialists UB Services to help licensees save money on their utility bills.
Robinsons now buys gas and electric in bulk through its ‘Buying Club’ over a fixed three-year period, resulting in lower rates for its licensees. Around a fifth of its estate has signed up.
David Harrison, Director of Retail Operations for Robinsons Brewery, said: “The cost of utilities are often overlooked by the average pub-goer.
“A licensee can spend up to £10,000 per year depending on the size of their pub.
“We wanted to take some of the pressure off them and offer a solution that can save them thousands of pounds per year.
“Robinsons are committed to supporting our pubs. By partnering up with UB Services we have been able to pass all discounts over to our licensees at no profit from Robinsons.
“We hope to help the rest of our estate save money as we continue to roll out the scheme.”
National statistics from 2015 show that the price of E=electricity has risen by 28% in five years, while the price of gas has risen by 38% in the same time period.
Andrew Cook, Senior Sales Manager for UB Services, said: “Since the launch, the incentive has already been a phenomenal success .
“Most members are already seeing a 30% reduction in their tariff with some are saving as much as £4,000 a year.”
