Robinsons Brewery will hold this year’s North West Wine and Spirits Association’s (NWWSA) annual Wine Tasting Competition.
The event, which is now in its 14th year, will see teams of budding wine connoisseurs attempt to identify eight carefully chosen wines by an expert panel of judges based not just on taste, mouth feel and aroma but by clues from each of the judging panel.
Paul Robinson, Director of Wine for Robinsons Brewer, said: “The premise is very similar to ‘Call My Bluff’, each of the judges will give clues to the wines and only one of them will be correct.
“It is the job of the participants to decide who is telling the truth. It’s a novel twist on a traditional blind wine tasting and one that has proven successful over the years.”
Along with the tasting, there will also be several quiz questions which are linked to the world of wine to allow teams to add to their final score.
Paul Evans, Chairman of the NWWSA said: “Events are at the heart of the NWWSA’s remit to connect the drinks trade in the north west.
“The wine quiz is a long established annual event, which will have an extra competitive dimension this year being held at Robinsons Brewery.
“This event is the first of many to help drive new members to the association and there is real benefit in such networking for the region’s trade going forward.”
The NNWSA annual Wine Tasting Competition takes place at Robinsons Visitors Centre in Stockport on Thursday, February 25, from 6.30pm. Tickets to the event cost £20 per person and includes entry to the competition along with an evening supper.
