The Stockport County Supporters’ Co-operative is looking to organise a new ‘Hatters Half Marathon’, which takes place on Sunday 6th September. The event is intended to raise funds for The Wellspring – their charity partner and also the Co-op’s Guardian Fund, which looks to fund the purchase of assets for the football club.
The Wellspring is a Stockport based resource centre providing free support and services for homeless and disadvantaged people. Local communities who have benefitted include over 700 people sleeping rough in Stockport or Manchester who have been supported into housing of some description.
Starting and finishing at Edgeley Park, the organisers are hoping to attract a field of up to 1,200 runners who can each raise money via sponsorship and are looking for local businesses and organisations to help with costs through corporate sponsorship.
Robinsons Brewery have already pledged their support and David Bremner, Marketing Director, explains:
“We are keen to support the Hatter’s Half Marathon, because of both the Stockport link and also the “reason why” which is to raise money for the Stockport County Guardian Fund and The Wellspring.
“We are committing support of our dray horses, vintage vehicles, social media and substantial financial sponsorship as well as entering a team of Dizzy Blondes from the brewery, and it would be great to see many of our fellow Stockport based businesses get behind this new and very worthy event”.
A number of sponsorship options are available – and can be tailored to meet an individual company’s needs. Options include T shirt sponsorship, promotion on all advertising and promotional literature through all media channels including a dedicated ‘Hatters Half Marathon’ website, press releases including in the Stockport Express, Manchester Evening News and on Pure Radio.
