Stockport born and raised ROBERT Higginson, formerly managing and financial director of Warburtons, has been appointed chairman of another great North West family of bakers, Frank Roberts & Sons.

Established in 1887, the continued success of the Roberts’ family of bakers has seen output increase dramatically; over two million loaves, rolls and bakery items are currently produced every week at its Norwich plant where over 800 staff contribute to annual sales of more than £80m, making Roberts the UK’s fourth largest independent baker, with ambitions to grow further.

Robert is no stranger to household and global brands having begun his working life with Shell, is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and MBA graduate from Henley Management College. He also currently sits on the advisory board of Manchester-based A2e Venture Catalysts.
