As people are now officially living for longer, Stockport Council is working in partnership with NHS Stockport and other local organisations to help residents live healthier and more independently for as long as possible.
Information roadshows, with a theme of ‘Rise to the Challenge’, will raise awareness of the information, advice, and preventative support to help people to improve their health and wellbeing. The roadshows, in February and March, focus on how simple lifestyle changes can help to reduce the risk of ill-health.
Everyone is welcome and there’s no need to book in advance – drop-in to find out about the wide range of advice and information available in Stockport from independent and voluntary agencies. There will be interactive sessions including dance and exercise. Light refreshments will be available and there will be an opportunity to enter a prize draw.
Councillor John Pantall, Executive
Member for Health and Wellbeing, said:
“The Rise to the Challenge roadshows
are ideal for letting Stockport residents
know more about the local voluntary and
community organisations offering key
information and support services. It is
vitally important we encourage as many
people as possible to find out what is
available in Stockport to make sure they
keep themselves well and live healthier
and more independent lives.
“Many demands on a hard-pressed NHS
could be reduced if people took simple
steps to maintain good health,” Cllr
Pantall added.
