More than 700 people voted as part of a series of road shows held in Brinnington organised by Stockport Council as part of a ‘You Say We Pay’ event.
The ‘You Say We Pay’ event gave the residents the chance to decide how money should be spent in their area.
The events were held over four days, 18th to 21st February, and gave local groups the chance to put forward ideas that will benefit the area. Local residents then make the decisions on which one’s they think will make a difference.
Residents were also able to cast their vote by either visiting the voting road shows at locations throughout the Brinnington area, by telephoning or voting online. In total 714 people voted.
Councillor Mark Weldon, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Supporting Communities, said: “‘You Say We Pay’ events provide a great opportunity for residents to support the funding of projects which really enhances and brings their community together.”
A total of 30 projects were awarded a share of the £45,000 at an information day event held on Monday 25th February attended by over a hundred people. Funding for the ‘You Say We Pay’ event came from Stockport Council, Safer Stockport Partnership, Stockport Homes and the Community Development Foundation.
