Businesses and community organisations across Greater Manchester are being invited to register to attend to the 2023 GM Green Summit, which takes place on 2nd October.
The summit, this year being held at The Lowry, Salford Quays, will offer a first-look at the city-region’s Five-Year Environment Plan for 2024-29, and will have a focus on understanding the behaviours and motivations of Greater Manchester residents as a means to driving positive change.
Launched in 2018 by Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, the GM Green Summit features talks, exhibition stands and interactive sessions based around key themes of nature recovery, transport, low carbon energy and buildings, and sustainable production and lifestyles.
The summit is free to attend, and places can be booked via Eventbrite.
Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, said:
“Each year the Green Summit captures the drive and passion people have in Greater Manchester to make this a greener place and I’m really looking forward to sharing and hearing progress and discussing ways forward once again this year.
“As we continue to push toward our ambitious goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2038, it’s vital that we ensure nobody is left behind – from residents living and working in the city-region to the businesses operating here, everyone has a role to play in making Greater Manchester greener. The next iteration of our five-year plan for the environment will help make that happen, focused on the tangible actions that partners can take to help us reach our goals.
“We have a real opportunity here to also capitalise on a green industrial revolution and lead the way in Greater Manchester by ensuring we have the right skills to fill new jobs in growing industries which will support our environment whilst boosting our economy.”
