The Light Cinema has welcomed over 1 million visitors during the last two years. The cinema has helped establish Redrock as one of the region’s leading leisure destinations since opening in 2017.
Due to the success of the cinema at Redrock, two additional screens have been opened to meet growing demand from customers.
Tom Dean, Business Manager at The Light Cinema Stockport said:
The people of Stockport have welcomed us with open arms since opening in 2017. We’ve now had over one million guests join us for everything from the latest blockbusters to opera, theatre and concerts.
“It’s been that busy that we’ve just added two additional screens and now offer freshly made pizzas, burgers and sliders. We’ve got plenty more exciting additions up our sleeve for next year too!”
As well as The Light Cinema, Redrock is also home to restaurants Zizzi, Pizza Express and Berretto Lounge, The Gym and Mangobean café.
Over the last 12 months, popular Italian eatery, Zizzi, has served 41,000 diners. Mangobean has sold over 12,000 coffees and now plans to expand its menu, offering pizzas, burgers and a range of desserts. The Gym Stockport has also welcomed over 260,000 visitors in the last year and plans to have a refurbishment in early 2020.
As Redrock and The Light Cinema celebrate their second anniversary, Caroline Simpson, Corporate Director for Place at Stockport Council, said:
Redrock was a big hit from the start and it’s proved to be hugely popular, establishing itself as one of the region’s most popular leisure destinations. To have reached a milestone of over one million visitors in just two years is fantastic.
“The town centre is undergoing an exciting transformation, and this goes much further than Redrock. Visitors can now enjoy a vibrant Market Place, investment in Underbanks and an influx of new bars, restaurants and independent shops. Work will also start soon to transform Merseyway into a modern, shopping centre with world class facilities.”
Redrock forms part of the Council’s ambitious £1 billion regeneration programme, including a new transport interchange, and Town Centre West.
