Stockport town centre’s must-visit leisure destination, Redrock, is now fully let thanks to two recent new additions to its offer.
The 12-screen Light Cinema has expanded into the neighbouring unit at the development to bring 10 luxury bowling lanes, an arcade, interactive darts, karaoke, and American pool to the town centre.
The cinema has proved a major draw for Redrock and the wider town centre in attracting visitors to take advantage of Stockport’s growing leisure and hospitality scene; the £45 million scheme drew in 750,000 visitors to the town centre in its first year.
Also now open at Redrock is Turkish restaurant, Afiyet, which joins high street favourites Pizza Express, Zizzi and Berretto Lounge, as well as The Gym, in seeing the development, which completed in 2017, fully let.
Cllr Colin MacAlister, Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council, said:
“Redrock has become an integral and much-loved part of our town centre and even through difficult times businesses can see the value of opening here. The fact that it is now fully let speaks volumes and shows real confidence in Stockport.
“With so much happening in the area, like improvements to Merseyway, the new transport interchange and a burgeoning food and drink scene at the Underbanks, there’s never been a better time to visit Stockport. I wish The Light and Afiyet every success.”
Keith Pullinger, Co-Founder at The Light Cinema, said:
“We are so excited to have opened this latest addition to The Light’s offer and we’ve been delighted by the response we’ve received since our launch. It was clear that Stockport needed more leisure activities and we feel we now have something for everyone which will hopefully attract even more people to the town centre.”
The Redrock scheme forms part of Stockport’s ongoing £1 billion regeneration of the town centre, creating new communities, homes, jobs and opportunities, improved infrastructure and a wide range of economic benefits.
