Rail operator, Northern, is calling for existing rail commuters to influence colleagues to convert from travelling by road to taking the train.
The train company says office influencers can act as potential catalysts for widespread organisational travel shift, and their buy-in to schemes like Northern’s Employee Season Tickets is crucial to encouraging others to take up the offer.
The rail operator is now calling for those already travelling by train to register their employer onto Northern’s Employee Season Tickets scheme.
Employee Season Tickets allow commuters to pay monthly, with interest-free instalments taken direct from their paycheque, and give travellers the equivalent of 12 weeks free travel compared to purchasing five return fares each week. Tickets can be used 365 days a year, meaning extra savings for the employee if travelling on the same route outside of their commute.
Mark Powles, commercial and customer director at Northern, said:
“Every workplace has its influencers and what better way for them to raise their ‘street cred’ with their colleagues than by bagging them 12 weeks free travel to work.
“We’re always looking for ways to encourage people to make the transition from road to rail – and if we can convince those with clout among their peers to sign-up and spread the word, we’re confident others will follow.”
The train operator says organisations on the Employee Season Ticket Scheme are not only helping to cut the cost of their workforce’s commute, but also promoting sustainable travel and reducing the region’s carbon footprint.
