
Rail company, Northern, has made a final call to apply to join its engineering apprenticeship programme before applications close on 13th March.
The rail company employs 300 apprentices across its depots and offices in the North of England, including in Greater Manchester where Northern is currently recruiting for candidates to join its engineering apprenticeship programme.
Northern has timed its call to coincide with UNESCO’s World Engineering Day, which aims to celebrate the contribution of the world’s engineers in making for a better and more sustainable world.
Roles are also on offer at depots in Hull, Leeds, Newcastle and Liverpool, and the company is particularly keen to attracted more candidates from groups currently under-represented in its engineering workforce, including, women and those from ethnic minorities.
Tricia Williams, chief operating officer at Northern, said:
“We’re looking for the next generation of rail staff to join Northern and help us transform the rail network in the north of England.
“The railway has a proud tradition of welcoming and nurturing talent, and several members of our management team – as well as countless other members of staff – started their railway careers as apprentices.
“We want to attract applicants from people who are currently under-represented in our workforce, specifically women and those from ethnic minority groups.
