Stockport’s Prest Financial Planning is celebrating 55 years of successful business in the financial sector.
Now run by a strong management team headed by managing director Graham Prest, the company was started by James (Jim) Prest from offices in Hazel Grove.
In September 1961, at 33 years of age, Jim left his low paid job as a bookbinder at Manchester University to embark on a new career with Sun Life of Canada in the hope that this complete change of direction would enable him to better support his young family.
Jim’s son Graham explains: We are incredibly proud to say that this month marks 55 years since Jim took this leap of faith and that we, Prest Financial Planning, are continuing to work with so many of Jim’s original clients and their families.
“In celebration of this milestone, we wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all our wonderful clients, colleagues and friends who have been part of this journey.
“Celebrations are taking part throughout the month with a ‘storyboard’ of the journey of Prest Financial Planning now on display in reception and we have made the decision to alter the name of the office building to ‘James Prest House’ in memory of our “marvellous” Jim.”
Prest are very much a supportive and active part of the Stockport Business Community and a founding member of Marketing Stockport.
This week Prest hosted Marketing Stockport’s monthly member meeting where over 60 of the members gathered to hear from Prest’s Joe Rose who focussed on the financial situations post-Brexit.
Prest also have a second important event coming up: on the evening of 29th September, they are co-hosting [along with Booth Ainsworth LLP] an event at Robinsons Brewery with guest speaker, Lord Jim O’Neill, talking to invited guests about ‘what the Northern Powerhouse concept means to Stockport.’
On behalf of Marketing Stockport, we would also like to wish Graham, Jan, Joe and all the team many congratulations.
