Three new Post area newspapers will launch in three more areas of Stockport, with the whole borough now being covered by a free, printed, hyperlocal newspaper.
Drawing Board Productions Community Interest Company first launched Heatons Post community newspaper in February 2020 to support the Heatons and Reddish communities, sharing positive news and essential local information. Cheadle Post and Bramhall Post were then launched to support the communities of Cheadle, Cheadle Hulme, Gatley, Bramhall and Woodford. Community newspapers have also launched to serve the Didsbury and Chorlton areas of South Manchester.
September 2023 will see the launch of three further newspapers in the borough:
- Edgeley Post covering the areas between Edgeley and Davenport
- Hazel Grove Post covering the areas between Hazel Grove and Offerton
- Romiley & Marple Post covering the areas between Romiley and Marple, including High Lane, Bredbury, Woodley, and Brinnington.
Each newspaper will feature hyperlocal news for the areas it covers, as well as Stockport wide news and information. The total distribution of Post community newspapers across the borough will be 35,000+ per month.
Post community newspapers operate on a not-for-profit basis and have proved to be an important way to ensure residents in each community are kept informed and connected, particularly for those facing digital exclusion and social isolation, while also supporting local businesses and the important work of community groups, support services and local charities in local areas.
