Every school across the borough has now broken up, six weeks of bliss or boredom for kids! Summer holidays needn’t be challenge keeping your kids entertained in Stockport!
Libraries have plenty going on with the Record Breakers reading challenge which is encouraging children between four and 11 to read six books over the holidays. Bredbury Library is helping you step back in time to trace your ancestors every week on Tuesdays and Wednesday mornings.
You could help your kids make a bit of holiday money! Have a sort out of your cupboards and raise money for charity at Walthew House’s table top sale on Bank Holiday Saturday, as well as yourself! If you’re feeling particularly brave you could enter their fund-raising abseil!
And if you’ve not got a seaside break planned, then grab your flip flops and sun-cream and head to Bramhall’s village square on Saturday 22nd August where you can enjoy sun, sea and sand right on your doorstep for the day!
If it’s theatre you’re after, you’re spoilt for choice in Stockport! N K Theatre Arts is staging two performances this weekend (Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd August at 2pm) where you’ll get the chance to see all of your favourite Disney characters, as Mickey & Minnie must help Cinderella find her Glass Slipper which has been stolen by the wicked Ursula and Captain Hook who seek to spoil her “happy ever after”.
Train enthusiasts are gathering together on Sunday 16th August at the fifth annual Stockport Railshow, at Stockport Train Station . The free event, hosted on the Manchester bound platform of the station, is running from 10am to 4pm with a number of attractions including modern diesel locomotives on display, stalls, model railways and railwayana, vintage buses and a charity raffle.
…and there’s thousands expected at Stockport Old Town Fringe Festival, which takes place from the 28th to the 30th August, showcasing themed entertainment, activities and stalls at venues around the town centre.
