Peak Translations employee Elizabeth Boorman has passed her gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Elizabeth, 26, from Whaley Bridge started the scheme back in 2006, finally receiving her award at Holyrood Palace in the presence of Prince Philip.
The award was presented by Stephen Miller MBE, a British athlete who competes in Paralympic club and discus throwing.
Beth had to undertake a number of tasks including organising a month-long trip to Namibia to help build an orphanage and a four-day expedition in the Lake District including wild camping.
Beth said: “I decided to do the bronze award at school and enjoyed all the elements of it.
“I like giving myself a challenge so wanted to move onto the gold award and knew it wouldn’t be a walk in the park.
“It made me a lot more determined, I built friendships, learnt new skills and building – quite literally!”
Helen Provart, managing director at Whaley Bridge based Peak Translations said: “The whole team here at Peak are very proud of Beth’s Duke of Edinburgh achievement. She is a very determined person, with strong organisational and communication skills, so it is great to see that she has had the opportunity to develop and implement these skills through such a worthwhile experience.”
