To mark the start of Manchester Pride “Big Weekend” coming to the city, ten members of The Manchester Airport Choir sang an array of classic hits whilst donning suitable rainbow coloured attire to get passengers in the mood.
Formed in 2012 The Manchester Airport Choir was featured on Gareth Malone’s BBC TV series The Choir: Sing While You Work, and regularly appear across the region. Throughout Friday they sang hits such as Fly Me to the Moon, You Raise Me Up and Only You.
easyJet and Manchester Airport are official sponsors of the Manchester Pride Big Weekend which took place from Friday 22 to Monday 25 August. Tens of thousands of people from across the UK and Europe flocked to Manchester’s world-renowned Gay Village for the event and to watch the parade.

“We wanted to spread the love and a bit of feel good cheer as customers’ jetted in and out for the weekend-long celebrations.”

The Big Weekend attracts 100,000 visitors and easyJet boosted the numbers by carrying more passengers into the city during Pride compared with last year. In the three days running up to the event, easyJet flew in an estimated 10,000 passengers with many expected to have attended the Big Weekend. During the Bank Holiday weekend Manchester Airport geared up to see 324,103 passengers come through the airport.
As part of the Big Weekend, staff from easyJet and Manchester Airport took to the streets on Saturday 23 August for the ‘Love’ themed parade which made its way through Manchester City Centre from 1pm with a colourful and eye-catching float encouraging the thousands to celebrate with colour, fly orange!
easyJet has 35 destinations on sale from Manchester Airport, including the LGBT community holiday hot spots of Mykonos, Amsterdam, and Berlin.
Manchester Airport is home to 65 airlines, serving 200 plus destinations and has over 21 million passengers a year.
