OVER 3,850 VOTES CAST IN £10,000 VERNON JUBILEE FUND

The Jubilee Fund has again awarded £10,000 to charity and community groups in Stockport.  We had 66 applications for the 2015 fund, with 20 finalists chosen to receive funding.  Readers of the Stockport Express collected a record number of tokens to support their chosen group – over 3,850 votes were cast in total meaning that each individual vote was worth just over £2.59.

Vernon Building Society Chief Executive, Mike Hanson, said: “We’ve had great support for the Jubilee Fund which has meant that 20 local community causes can benefit from funding and publicity again this year. Many thanks to the Stockport Express readers who voted in record numbers to make a difference in their local area.”

The 20 groups have all been invited to a presentation evening in November in recognition of their contribution to Stockport’s community.

The Vernon’s Jubilee Fund has donated over £30,000 of funding to 44 local charity and community groups since 2012.
