Orbit Development’s properties in the centre of Stockport are now offering customers enhanced connectivity to the Internet, improved access and cheaper deals.
Cost effective broadband has been an issue for businesses in the centre of Stockport for some time due to the inadequate and inflexible services from the usual fibre providers.
However, Orbit can now provide Stockport customers with state-of-the-art Internet access with faster and more reliable download and upload speeds at competitive rates.

Working in partnership with Metronet (UK), one of the country’s most advanced Internet Service Providers, Orbit has put in place a blueprint for digital infrastructure to all its properties starting with the Stockport portfolio.
Orbit has taken full advantage of a government-run Digital Voucher Scheme and teamed up with Metronet (UK) to cover the installation costs.
Occupiers can also benefit from this scheme which allows customers to seek £3,000 of the capital costs of installing broadband technology that offers speeds of at least 30MB.
All of Orbit’s twelve town centre properties are now eligible for the voucher scheme and Orbit is keen to promote the ease of the scheme to both new and existing customers.
Not only are high upload and download speeds readily available, but installation and connection costs are at a fraction of most other providers.
The investment is aimed at enhancing the Internet services available in Stockport and to enable Orbit to offer high speed broadband and VOIP (voice over Internet protocol) facilities to new and existing businesses, especially in the digital sector.
Head of Property at Metronet (UK), Sarah Martin, said:
“Internet connectivity is now seen as an essential utility by many businesses.
“Metronet (UK) specialises in working with forward thinking landlords such as Orbit Developments to deliver turnkey connectivity solutions. By Metronet enabling buildings with high speed Internet services, this new partnership will ensure that customers can move into Regent House and other properties in Orbit Development’s portfolio and enjoy access to flexible, high speed Internet services as soon as they move in.
“The government’s voucher scheme is a great way for landlords to help businesses get superfast broadband.”
Managing Director of Orbit Developments, Tony Jones, said Metronet (UK) had been great to work with:
“They stepped in where BT and Virgin Media did not, to deliver a flexible fibre connection and we are delighted with progress. The importance of providing ‘connected’ buildings cannot be under-estimated. It is very often the first question asked of us and now we can respond with confidence.”
Orbit has already seen four customers take up the service and utilise the voucher scheme.
