Following on from Caroline Patten’s recent article regarding the skills base and resource required in Stockport, Fairhurst Estates recent growth spurt has resulted in a vacancy for a newly or soon to be qualified Chartered Building Surveyor.
Although Fairhurst provide a UK wide service, the ongoing investment across the North West is providing an extra boost to the region’s economy, an early indication demonstrated by a buoyant construction industry providing career openings, particularly for professional services within the building sector.
While the investment is having a positive effect on the industry, including at Fairhurst Estates, it has demonstrated a possible lack of resource.
John Thornley, managing director of Fairhurst Estates commented:
“The North West is enjoying a period of investment, regeneration and development, including here in Stockport, which is creating confidence and openings for jobs in the construction and building sectors, either directly or indirectly related.
“I believe that the economic downturn of 2008 hit this sector harder than most; it is possible, nearly 10 years later, that we are feeling the affects of a reluctance for students and young people at that time to choose construction and related industries as a preferred career path. It is good to see that this trend seems to in reverse mode today and we have been lucky enough to recruit and retain some excellent post graduates.”
Qualified or soon to be qualified Chartered Building Surveyors who are interested in joining a well-established but progressive company can look forward to having a varied role and become involved with both commercial and residential work as demand for their services continues to grow.
