The owners of several Manchester venues is to open a new bar in Stockport.
Tusk, which is based in the Northern Quarter in Manchester city centre, plans to open a new cocktail bar and restaurant on the former Kro Heaton Moor site.
The bar on the corner of Heaton Moor Road and Shaw Road will become a new branch of Tusk after being bought by Mark Andrew Developments, which owns the African-inspired bar of the same name in Manchester city centre.
The group also owns Walrus in High Street, as well as Rosylee, Hula and The Fitzgerald in Stevenson Square, Infamous Diner just off Shudehill, and Hula and Chalk in Didsbury.
Building work is already well under way, and Tusk Heaton Moor could be open in time for the August Bank Holiday.
Full details are still under wraps, but bosses have promised the new site will be ‘contemporary and cool, with a focus on delicious cocktails and modern cuisine’.
MAD Ltd managing director Mark Andrew, who lives in Heaton Moor, said: “To be able to bring our latest food and drink concept here is very exciting for me personally, and for the rest of the team who have a lot of love for the area.
“As well as a fresh new look, we can promise residents a good dose of our MAD flair, with inventive cocktails, quality food and a range of food, drink and music-led events.”
Kro announced it will close its Heaton Moor bar last week, but still owns the original bar on Oxford Road in Manchester.
