Following enquiries from the residents of Stockport, the Council confirmed that there are no local elections in the borough this year.
The next local elections take place in May 2014 and Stockport residents will therefore not receive any information on voting in May 2013.
Stockport Council is divided into 21 electoral wards,
and each ward is represented on the Council by three
councillors elected for four year terms.
Local Elections take place in thirds when one
councillor in each ward retires and an election is held
to elect a new representative. As each councillor
serves for four years, this means that every four years
there is a ‘fallow’ year when no election takes place.

There are no elections in Metropolitan Authorities in
May. However, in the North West elections are taking
place in Lancashire and Cumbria.
