NK Theatre Arts will perform an excerpt from their forthcoming teen production of “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” as part of celebrations at Stockport Pride on Sunday 2nd June in the town centre.
The funny, outrageous and touching musical sensation is due to be performed at The Forum Theatre in Romiley later this year and promises to captivate the Stockport Pride audience from the Martyn Hett Stage.
Stockport Pride 2024 is set to light up the town on Sunday, 2nd June, from 11am to 7pm – celebrating equality, diversity and inclusion within the local LGBTQ+ community. This vibrant event promises a day packed with colour, music and unity – inviting everyone to join in the festivities.
There will be a spectacular parade, starting from the Underbanks at noon. Expect to see a sea of rainbow flags and smiling faces as the parade weaves its way through the town centre. The event will feature a variety of stalls in Stockport’s Historic Market Place – hosted by charities, community groups and food and drink vendors, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
Other entertainment planned for the event includes Rowetta, the original female singer with the recently reformed Madchester band Happy Mondays, and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star, Kitty Scott-Claus, with acts on the Martyn Hett Stage compered by the Vegan Queens.
For those needing a break from the hustle and bustle, a Quiet Space will be available, providing a calm area for relaxation. The Youth Space will offer young LGBTQ+ people a safe and supportive environment, while the Family Space will welcome those with children to join in the celebrations.
The day is enthusiastically supported by a number of organisations, including Creative Support, Sky, Totally Stockport, BASF, Stockport Homes Group, Adoption Counts, Wickes, Vernon Building Society and the National Lottery Community Fund.
Stephen Bowyer, Chairperson of the Stockport Pride organising committee, said:
“We’re absolutely thrilled to bring Stockport Pride back to the town centre. This year promises to be our best yet, with an incredible line-up of performers and a host of activities designed to promote acceptance and celebrate our diverse community.”
