Staff from Stockport NHS Foundation Trust were among those from Stockport organisations showing their support for the town centre’s Stockport Pride event on Sunday 30th July.
Colleagues from the trust, which runs Stepping Hill Hospital and local community NHS services, joined hundreds of others along for the annual celebration of the borough’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and intersex community. It featured live music, drag queens and rainbow flags brightening up the town centre.
Stockport Pride centred around the main parade (pictured, photo courtesy of the Manchester Evening News), which saw crowds march from the Underbanks in Stockport town centre, and also included a full schedule of on-stage performers and with a range of festivities including a silent disco, drag story time and a mobile cocktail van. The event was sponsored by a number of prominent Stockport businesses, including CDL, Vernon Building Society, Stockport Homes and Totally Stockport.
As well as entertainment there was information on hand too, and Stockport NHS Foundation Trust had an information stand among others in the market place, which included opportunities for recruitment and joining in clinical research. The Stockport Health branch of Unison, including staff members from the trust, were also on display.

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust was one of the first NHS trusts in the region to sign up to the All Equals Charter supporting LGBTQI+ equality across Greater Manchester, and also has an active staff network for its LGBTQI+ colleagues.
Amanda Bromley, Director of People and Organisational Development for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust said:
“We’re very proud as an organisation to support our LGBTQI+ colleagues and the local community too, and joining in with Stockport Pride is always a positive and fun way to show that. It was great to see colleagues join in such a joyful day and we look forward to taking part in many more in the future.”
