Rail operators, Northern and TransPennine Express are warning passengers in Stockport and across the North of England to be aware of changes to timetables taking effect from Sunday 2nd June.
While most services will only see minor changes to timing, a number of local services in Stockport will see some increases in frequency or capacity. TransPennine Express passengers heading further afield will also benefit frommore frequent and later running services.
Northern will increase capacity on services calling at Heald Green and Gatley stations on its Manchester Airport to Liverpool Lime Street route, while Sunday services between Buxton and Manchester Piccadilly will make additional calls at Heaton Chapel.
While TransPennine Express services through Stockport will be unchanged, passengers changing for services North to Scotland or York will benefit from extra services. Passengers travelling to or from Liverpool will also see additional services running later in the evening.
Matt Rice, chief operating officer at Northern, said:
“The vast majority of services are unaffected by the change, but there are a small number of services that have been re-timed.
“Customers should use the ‘Check My Timetable’ tool on the Northern website to see the changes that affect their local station.”
Chris Jackson, Managing Director at TransPennine Express, said:tr
“We’re pleased to be able to offer these extra services for our customers.
“While most of our timetable will stay the same, we urge customers to check before they travel in case there are any slight changes to their services.”
In addition to a Check My Timetable tool on its website, TransPennine Express has also produced a short video to explain how its colleagues go about creating a timetable.
Chris Jackson added:
“Our number one priority is providing a consistent and reliable service for customers, and this timetable will allow us to continue to do so, while also bringing more benefits to customers.
“We have significantly reduced cancellations to services, and we will continue to make improvements.”
