A new Principal has been appointed to Stockport College. Governors have announced that Simon Andrews, who is currently the Principal and Chief Executive of Macclesfield College, is to join the college in April as CEO and Principal.
Speaking this week Simon Andrews (left) said:
“I am delighted to be joining Stockport College and am looking forward to the challenge of working with students and staff to continue on the improvements already made. Stockport College has high ambition and aspirations for its learners and staff and I fully intend to lead the College back to ‘outstanding’ within the next few years.
The College has a great tradition and track record of providing high quality opportunities for the people of Stockport and I very much want the College to be at the heart of the community.”
At Macclesfield College, Simon has led the transformation of the college since his appointment as Principal in April 2012 where he was noted in the college’s latest Ofsted report as being “unequivocal in his vision for the college to be outstanding, and in this he is well supported by governors, managers and staff.” Since his appointment Simon has changed the culture of the college successfully to one of high aspiration and ambition.
Chair of Governors, Louise Richardson, said:
“I am delighted that Simon Andrews has accepted the position of Principal and CEO at Stockport College. Simon comes with an excellent track record in leading college improvement. His experience will be invaluable in leading us towards our goal of once again becoming an outstanding college.
“I would like to take this opportunity also to put on record our thanks to Ian Clinton, our Interim Principal and CEO, for his strong and visible leadership since February that has resulted in our improvements so far and am very pleased that he will be staying with us until Simon is able to join us, to achieve a smooth transition.”
