
A new housing development company has been formed in Stockport as a new partnership is launched between Stockport Council and Stockport Homes.
‘Viaduct’ has been set up to allow the Council and Stockport Homes to build as many affordable new homes in Stockport as possible.
The development partnership between Stockport Council and Stockport Homes will be officially launched on the 8th March at 3.30pm at the Cross Keys site, Adswood Road, Cheadle Hulme where 14 modular homes will be the first scheme completed. Representatives from Stockport Council and Stockport Homes will be present.
Cllr Sheila Bailey, Executive Member for Communities and Housing, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to bring together the Council’s resources and Stockport Homes’ experience and expertise to take forward the shared aim of building new homes in Stockport that people can actually afford, some to buy but mostly to rent.
“Many people have been involved in getting us to this point and I would like to express my thanks to them all.”
David Beckett, Chair of newly formed Viaduct, said: “I’m delighted to be involved in the establishment of this exciting new company. Our focus is on quality and innovation and we will take advantage of development opportunities to offer modern and affordable social housing in new homes in Stockport.”
