Stockport Council is to expand the reach of its One Stockport Family Hubs to more residents with new locations in Stockport town centre.
One Stockport Family Hubs are networks of support enabling easier access to information and help on all aspects of family life. They bring together the council, NHS and voluntary sector groups in local neighbourhoods to provide a ‘one-stop-shop’ for early help, public health, and support services. By integrating services, Family Hubs aim to reduce inequalities and improve outcomes for children and families.
From this week, help and support from trained staff will be available at Stockport Council’s Stopford House reception, Life Leisure’s Grand Central hub, and Stockport Homes’ Cornerstone reception. New sites will sit alongside the existing Family Hubs in Brinnington, Adswood or Reddish, as well as information in local libraries.
To promote this expansion, there will be three information marketplace events to learn more about the services working together within One Stockport Family Hubs:
- Stockport Council Stopford House, 20th May, 11 am – 1 pm
- Life Leisure Grand Central, 21st May, 11 am – 1 pm
- Stockport Homes Cornerstone, 22nd May, 11 am – 1 pm
These events are open to all and will be of particular interest and value to anyone working with children and families. Family Hubs support children and young people from pre-birth up to age 19, or 25 for young adults with special educational needs and disabilities.
One Stockport Family Hubs form a vital part of One Stockport Local, which is bringing together help and support to make it easier for people to help themselves, their families, and those they care for, and forms part of Stockport Council’s aim to create happy and healthy lives for everyone living in Stockport.
