January’s Manchester Monitor summarises results from the latest release of the Greater Manchester Forecasting Model (GMFM) and provides analysis for some of the data.

The GMFM provides estimates of the future job growth in GM over the next ten years. It also shows sector strengths of GM’s economy by introducing the Specialisation Index, as well as presenting the issue of the ‘hour glass model’ of forecast changes in the occupational structure. The Monitor includes regular analysis of trends in unemployment, the housing market and visitor economy – all of which paint an optimistic picture of the year ahead.
