The M56 has re-opened after the installation of a new bridge as part of the Metrolink tram line extension connecting Metrolink withManchester Airport.
The HIghways agency said closing the motorway on Saturday night between junctions five and two was essential to ensure the safety of road users; it followed a closure of the M56 earlier in November as part of the same extension.
