Individual Solutions SK, a wholly owned Stockport Council company, celebrated National Community Meals Week by inviting special guests to a primary school.
Six centre users from the Ada Kay Resource Centre, which is run by Individual Solutions SK, plus the Mayor of Stockport, Councillor Chris Murphy, the Mayoress, and Councillor Keith Holloway, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Adult Care Services visited Romiley Primary School to enjoy lunch with the pupils.
Pupils at the primary school have supported Community Meals Week, during the past few weeks, by entering a Design a Meal competition organised by food supplier Apetito.
Year Two pupils gave the guests a special tour around the school and showed them the competition entries which were displayed in the lunch hall.
Councillor Keith Holloway, said:
“This event has been a great opportunity for our customers from the Ada Kay Resource Centre to visit Romiley Primary School, to engage with the children. “Our centre users thoroughly enjoyed chatting with the children and looking at the competition entries.
“Community Meals contribute greatly towards the nutritional needs of older and vulnerable people. People can receive this service on an on-going basis or just at a time when they have a crisis like an illness, accident or recovering from a period in hospital. The key aim of Community Meals Week is to draw attention to the excellent service that employees provide, from preparing and delivering the meals, to checking that residents are okay.”
Stephen Morris, Managing Director of Solutions SK, said:
“This event has been a great opportunity for our customers from the Ada Kay Resource Centre to visit Romiley Primary School, to engage with the children. Our customers have thoroughly enjoyed chatting with the children and looking at the competition entries. Community Meals is a vital service for the Stockport community and it is great to see the pupils taking an interest in the wellbeing of others.”
Head Teacher at Romiley Primary School, Susan Coleman, added:
“It has been wonderful working with Individual Solutions SK and Apetito. The children really enjoyed having lunch and spending time with the members of the community, learning about community meals and meeting the Mayor and his wife. It was a wonderful event.”
