A cleanliness training and monitoring officer working at Stepping Hill Hospital has won the title of ‘Auditor of the Year’ at an award ceremony celebrating the best in domestic healthcare support in the NHS.
Tracy Boswell won the award in competition with others from across the country at the MyCleaning Awards hosted by GV Healthcare in association with NHS England in a ceremony Salsa Temple venue in Embankment, Central London.
Tracy Boswell is a cleanliness training and monitoring officer working with Stockport NHS Foundation Trust’s estates and facilities department. She delivers monitoring audits whilst also diligently providing training for a team of over 200 at the hospital.
Tracy has been key to setting up new cleaning monitoring systems across the hospital which keep to the recently upgraded National Standards of Cleaning. She has worked tirelessly in preparing and putting into place the new standards, helping to ensure all domestic staff are on board in a helpful and positive way.
Tracy’s colleague Mike Mantle was also shortlisted for the title of ‘Domestic of the Year’ at the ceremony, while portering administrator Denise Starr was shortlisted for the ‘Dennis Southern Lifetime Achievement’ award at the parallel MyPorter awards taking place the previous day.
Emma Brookes, Head of Soft FM Strategy & Operations, NHS England & Improvement said at the ceremony:
“I think it’s incredibly important to showcase the work that people are doing to go above and beyond. It’s not just about ‘we show up today, we clean and we go home’ many of these people and their stories today highlight how incredible they are in doing not just what they’re paid to do, but also enjoying it – and they’re a really important part of patient care and recovery.”
Paul Featherstone, Director of Estates for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust said:
“All Tracy’s colleagues were thrilled to hear that she had won the title of ‘Auditor of the Year’, it really is hugely deserved for the massive dedication she has shown over the last year. We’d like to wish Tracy warm congratulations, and extend those to her outstanding colleagues Mike and Denise too for all their excellent work as well.”
