Stockport-based musicMagpie has offered up use of their warehouse for children’s charity, Cash For Kids, to act as the Greater Manchester headquarters of their Mission Christmas 2019 appeal.
musicMagpie’s Stockport warehouse will become the hub for receiving, sorting and distributing of gifts for disadvantaged children in Greater Manchester this Christmas.
Mission Christmas is an annual charity appeal run by Cash For Kids which is supported by Bauer Radio’s regional stations, including Hits Radio Manchester. In Stockport last year, over 2,500 children received gifts from the appeal, who otherwise would have woken up to empty stockings on Christmas morning.
Fleur East, host of Hits Radio Breakfast, said:
“Mission Christmas is a brilliant way for people to act in the true spirit of the season and give a little something to disadvantaged young people who really do deserve it.
“What was achieved by our generous listeners last year was truly amazing and I know we can do even better this year. Even one child living in poverty is too many but with thousands in Greater Manchester in that position Mission Christmas gives everyone the opportunity to make a real difference.”
The Mission Christmas 2019 appeal aims to beat last year’s donation target. Anyone wishing to donate an extra gift can take it to their nearest drop-off location or the musicMagpie’s warehouse at Galleon House, Newby Road, Hazel Grove, Stockport, SK7 5DA before the 17th December.
Alternatively, Mission Christmas accepts financial donations which allow the charity to purchase gifts for age rages they struggle to fulfil.
Mission Christmas works closely with social workers, head teachers and the emergency services who will nominate families in crisis to be supported by the appeal. All donations stay within the community that provided them.
Full details of all drop-off locations, how to donate, as well as other ways you can get involved in the Mission Christmas 2019 appeal can be found on the Hits Radio Manchester website.
