Founder and Chief Executive of Stockport-headquartered musicMagpie, Steve Oliver, has been named Ambassador of the Year at the North West Business of the Year Awards.
The awards led by TheBusinessDesk.com in partnership with CMS, LDC, PwC, RBC Brewin Dolphin, and Robert Walters, celebrate the best in businesses of all sizes in the region, with winners announced at a ceremony at The Midland, Manchester on Wednesday 18th October.
Steve Oliver (pictured in front the Mount Recyclemore art installation, commissioned for the 2021 G7 summit to raise awareness of e-waste) was awarded the title of Ambassador of the Year on the night in recognition of his leadership at musicMagpie and championing of sustainability and the circular economy. He was also recognised for his work bringing together the borough’s leading businesses to contribute to the growth of the local economy as Chair of the Stockport Economic Alliance. He is also one of the founders and a Trustee of charity, EGG, which seeks to help support people from homelessness into employment.
Speaking to over 400 attendees at the awards ceremony, Steve Oliver said:
“Being Ambassador isn’t an individual award, it’s a collective award. I have been blessed to have had amazing people around me.
“Never be afraid of failure – it makes you hungrier to succeed the second time.”
Among other businesses recognised at the North West Business of the Year Awards was airport technology company, AeroCloud, which won the One to Watch Award. The company recently announced a move from Macclesfield to the growing cluster of tech scale-ups in Stockport town centre, taking 4,500 sq ft at Orbit Developments’ Highbank House.
