Pupils in Stockport Primary Schools are achieving results for Level 4 in maths and English well above the national average.
The figures released by the Department for Education show excellent progress by Year 6 pupils in primary schools in Stockport.
This latest success follows the recent news from Ofsted that Stockport Council is nationally 13th out of 149 English local authorities, second in Greater Manchester and third in the North West.
The Ofsted league table revealed that 84% of children attended an outstanding or good primary school in Stockport.
Councillor Shan Alexander, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Lifelong Learning and Achievement, said: “This is an excellent set of results for Stockport pupils. Stockport Primary Schools perform significantly above the national outcomes, and the progress made by our young people is markedly better than the progress made nationally.
“This is despite Stockport being one of the lowest funded boroughs in the country. The excellent outcomes reflect the strong partnership that exists between teachers, pupils, governors, parents and the Council.”
