Industry specialist office technology sales and service provider Midshire Business Systems is continuing its support of local apprenticeship training schemes and the development of young people across the country.
Since 2011, Midshire has a strong apprentice programme, currently employing a number of apprentices across their UK sites including: Stockport, West Bromwich and Sheffield, with numbers expected to increase as the business continues to grow, more often leading to full time employment as they develop the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in the company.
The company has been continually recruiting and training apprentices and Stockport based Midshire Northern has employed eight apprentices across areas such as: Business Administration, IT and Warehouse Operations and is still looking to add to this number.
In the Midshire West Bromwich office the situation is very similar. Kellyann Coggins began her time at Midshire with a six-week work placement. Since completing the work placement Kellyann was offered a full time position in the customer services team. Kellyann worked with Capita Talent who supported her pre-employment training and work experience.
Kellyann Coggins said:
“I have a lot less stress on my shoulders and a lot more confidence in myself, because I know I’ve got support and won’t be frowned upon, as I am still learning on the job.”
Kellyann and Midshire Group Service Manager Ken Shipway were recently featured in a video about apprentices, produced by Barclays.
All of the apprentices are fully supported by their apprenticeship provider and a Midshire mentor, in order to complete their training programme.
Debbie Wilson, Midshire Northern Operations Manager comments:
“At Midshire we like to see young people come into the business and flourish. Our approach is to grow a multi-skilled workforce and apprenticeships give us a great foundation to develop the skills that the business needs.”
To date, Midshire has supported twenty-five apprentices, seventeen of which are still employed with the company. One of the first apprentices has progressed very well, now working in his second year as a fully-fledged field engineer.
All vacancies are advertised through the careers section on our website, which can be found here: http://www.midshire.co.uk/about-us/our-team/careers-at-midshire/
