
Michelle Hay has been advising students at Aquinas College as part of the Gander careers programme.
The initiative was created by Christian Mancier from Gorvins Solicitors and aims to bring business and education together.
Michelle, who runs Michelle Hay Training, has been registered with Gander since it launched in November 2015 and was ‘thrilled’ to put together a presentation for applied business students.
Although Michelle’s core business is delivering health and safety and food safety advice, she has 30 years’ experience of managing people.
She said: “Helping the next generation of young people is an opportunity for me to help shape the future managers.
“Being a good manager who is remembered in a positive way, does not happen overnight.
“It takes practice, good mentorship, a can-do attitude and above all fairness. I have always had a nurturing side that’s worked as a manager and this is a great way for me to put it to good use”.
Michelle drew on er experiences of dealing with clients, customers and staff, using her past to make the learning environment fun and memorable.
Organiser Dorothy Craig, who teaches the course at Aquinas, said: “Michelle related well to the students and gave them plenty of interactive activities for the student to be engaged.
“Her talk was extremely relevant to the topics we have covered accentuated with real live examples.
“Michelle was full of enthusiasm with plenty of interested stories based on her many years of experience. Many thanks for bring our subject to life.”
