Shoppers at Stockport’s Merseyway have successfully raised over £1600 for local charity, Independent Options, after the centre hosted a variety of fun fundraising events for families during the festive season.
Money was donated by shoppers attending a programme of Christmas activities at Merseyway last December, including the popular Visits to Santa that took place every weekend in the run up to Christmas.
Independent Options Children and Family Centre in Hazel Grove was Merseyway’s Charity of the Year and offers personalised support services and inclusive play opportunities for children with learning disabilities and additional needs. The charity also benefited from other fundraising activities at the shopping centre throughout the year, including One Great Day, a Princess Party and toy sales.
Victoria Nichol, Centre Manager at Merseyway said
Merseyway’s Visits to Santa was a fantastic event that allowed children to get excited for Christmas Day whilst helping children and families that really need support. We’re proud to have raised so much money for the charity which will help to support all the wonderful work that Julia and the team do for local families in need.”
Julia Maunder, Centre Manager at Independent Options said:
The money raised will make such a difference and help us to continue running the play sessions for the children and families who access our service. As a charity, we rely heavily on donations and we’d like to thank Merseyway for all their support.”
