Mellor Country House have put the fizz into their recent garden party which proved a great success. Last Sunday staff and friends enjoyed their first ever Garden Party at the home, much to the relief off all who had spent many hours planning and preparing.

The sun came out later in the afternoon and everyone seemed to take advantage of the perfect afternoon to support this worthy cause. As well as the quintessentially English cream teas they also offered afternoon tea with a glass of bubbly for £7.50 or £14 for 2 selling like hot cakes (pardon the pun).
Margaret Powell from Mellor Country House said:
“The feedback was brilliant, everyone said ‘wow’ and commented on how lovely the grounds looked as we had dressed the garden benches with table cloths and flowers.
“There were stall holders who were selling hand- made monkeys, jewellery, beautiful gifts and wooden “Homes for Gnomes” all at reasonable prices. We had over 100 supporters from the community and with the raffle and children,s tombola we raised £490 before expenses so very a good day.
“All the volunteers in the kitchen really worked very hard as it was so busy but it was a lovely atmosphere and a really good first time. We will do it again.”
Mellor Country House is a UK charity, built in 1907,set in three acres of garden and woodland located in the pretty village of Mellor, situated on the border between Greater Manchester and the High Peak . The charity is dedicated to providing respite breaks for groups, families, carers and individuals primarily from the nearby urban areas who could not, otherwise, have a break at all.
The Charity’s aim is to provide a safe, secure, relaxing and uplifting environment for the financially and socially disadvantaged. For many of the people who stay at the house, this break from the hardships of their day-to-day existence can, literally, be a life-saver.
