The Mayor of Stockport joined shoppers at Merseyway Shopping Centre last Saturday for the official opening of Wisteria Walk – a beautiful flower-filled installation featuring thousands of wisteria vines that will be located throughout the centre until late October.
The botanical installation was unveiled by the Mayor of Stockport with a garden party, which saw hundreds of local families join the celebrations and enjoy a host of entertainment throughout the day.
Visitors took part in croquet competitions with Her Royal Highness, The Queen of Hearts, and enjoyed live music, face painting and complimentary cakes and beverages.
Butterfly stilt walkers were on hand to entertain the crowds while local dancers from Cheshire Theatre School took centre stage and raised over £700 for their forthcoming championships in Portugal, where they will represent England in the Dance World Cup.
Centre Manager, Victoria Nichol said:
“Wisteria Walk provided the perfect backdrop for our garden party and it was fantastic to see so many shoppers enjoy the celebrations. The installation is a wonderful spectacle for Merseyway and we encourage everyone to come and snap and share photos of this vibrant addition to the centre.”
