Manchester Airport has been named the UK’s top airport for food, according to an analysis of eateries by luggage storage network, Radical Storage.
London Stansted Airport, also owned and operated by Manchester Airports Group, came second in the UK league table. Heathrow, the UK’s largest airport ranked fourth, behind London Luton.
In their analysis of the world’s top 100 airports by passenger numbers using data from online directories, Google Maps and analysis of menus, Radical Storage found Manchester to have the best food experience of any UK airport. The airport also scored highly for how well it caters for vegetarian and vegan travellers, ranking 3rd place globally of the airports analysed for their 26 vegan options available out of a total of 30 eateries, and the most of any UK airport.
Internationally, no UK airports made the global top 10 based on Radical Storage’s analysis, which was dominated by major hubs in the US and East Asia. The world’s busiest airport, Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport came in second place, behind South Korea’s largest airport, Incheon International, which boasts a whopping 270 places to eat with an average cost of a meal at just £6.56 (compared with £9.15 in Manchester Airport).
The news follows yesterday’s (4th May) announcement that the Airport had begun the tendering process on a new food hall in Terminal Two, set to open in 2025, that would further increase the variety of options available to passengers. The addition forms part of the airport’s £1.3 billion transformation programme, which saw a new-look Terminal Two open at the airport in summer 2021.
