
Manchester Airport has got into the Chinese New Year spirit with lots of entertainment and fun in the terminals.
A lion dance and traditional Chinese dancers entertained passengers while they waited for their flight to Beijing during the celebrations.
Celebrations begin today, 27th January denoting the beginning of the Year of the Rooster, defined by the Chinese zodiac cycle.
The Year of the Rooster officially begins tomorrow, on Saturday 28th January.
In addition to the entertainment, Manchester Airport has decked the terminals out in traditional Chinese lanterns plus there is a host of retail offers available for passengers.
For those not jetting off to China from the UK’s third biggest airport, do not fear, as there is a host of Chinese New Year giveaways on the airport’s social media channels to win. Prizes include – £75 duty free vouchers, £50 holiday voucher and tour of Concorde to name a few.
Manchester Airport is the only airport outside of London with direct routes to China. Hainan Airlines serves Beijing and Cathay Pacific does Hong Kong.
This year the Chinese New Year festivities are set to end on February 2.
