Continuing their work with the Walthew House Deaf and Blind Institute in Shaw Heath, a group of nine budding gardeners from MAN Diesel & Turbo UK Ltd (MDT-UK) in Hazel Grove made the most of the sunny weather and called in at the charity’s premises last Friday afternoon, 5th July, to tackle a few jobs in the Sensory Garden.
The garden is designed to provide a concentration of different experiences for the full range of senses using smell, texture, colour and sound, etc.
Donning overalls, the volunteers set about a variety of jobs, from trimming back the overgrown hedges and clearing rubbish to repainting a sound sculpture and sprucing up the water feature.
A few small jobs remain and a further visit is planned in the near future.
The end of an enjoyable afternoon was rounded off, for some, with a long, cold drink in the local pub.
