On Tuesday, November 12th 2019, MAN Energy Solutions, celebrated 2,500 days without a recordable accident in their warehouse in Hazel Grove.
MAN ES UK’s Head of Health, Safety and Environment, Ana Mitoi, was on hand on the day to present every member of the Warehouse team with a certificate and gift and is rightly proud of the team’s work. She said of the achievement:
“Huge credit goes out to all employees – both past and present – who have helped to achieve this remarkable feat.
“Health and Safety is something we all take for granted until something goes wrong so to have worked so hard for so long is a testament to everyone’s efforts and awareness over the last six years and ten months.
“As 5S continues to be rolled out across all four UK sites, we look forward to many more celebratory days going forward.
“Congratulations to you all and here’s to the next landmark!”
Located on the original Mirrlees site in Hazel Grove, Stockport, MAN’s Warehouse covers an area of some 76,000 sq.ft (7,060 sq. m) and carries more than 28,000 spare parts for engines in stock at any one point – anything from a small washer to a 6.5 metre crankshaft.
Part of the global Volkswagen Group of Companies, MAN Energy Solutions is the world market leader for large diesel engines for use in ships and power stations. Production ceased in Hazel Grove in 2006, as the Company became more product-support focused, servicing these ‘Legacy’ engines. At its height in the 1950s, the site provided employment for more than 1,900 people, six times the size and staff numbers since its beginnings in 1908.
