Staff at Hazel Grove based MAN Diesel & Turbo UK are swapping Turbo power for pedal power as they take a new steer on the ‘Cycle to Work’ challenge – by cycling from the Stockport office covering over 200 miles to their offices in Colchester.
To celebrate the national Cycle to Work Day staff from two of MAN Diesel & Turbo UK’s (MDT-UK) sites have decided to make an extra effort by cycling to work – from Stockport to Colchester!

On Thursday September 19th, seven cyclists will embark on the gruelling 200-plus mile challenge in order to raise funds for MDT-UK’s nominated charity, the Walthew House Deaf and Blind Institute in Shaw Heath.
Walthew House is an independent local charity supporting people in Stockport, who are blind, visually impaired, deaf or hard of hearing or who have dual sensory loss.
The ride is expected to take approximately 16 hours to complete and will be tackled in relay by the seven riders. Detailed planning is almost complete at MDT-UK’s Headquarters in Hazel Grove in preparation for the day with the team looking at the logistics needed for all eventualities such as weather conditions and equipment failure.
The provisional route will head out from Hazel Grove up into the hills around Buxton, climbing 1,000ft in 15 miles and visit Chesterfield, Newark and Spalding, before reaching Bury St. Edmunds and the final stages into Colchester. Cyclists from Stockport will be met towards the end of the ride by staff from MDT-UK’s Colchester site and it is hoped that Walthew House itself will also be represented.
