As part of a global organization, MAN Diesel and Turbo UK Ltd (MDT-UK) was set a target to achieve certification to three Standards by the end of 2014.
These Standards cover Quality, Environment and Health and Safety.
The Company was already certified to ISO 9001 Quality Standard and in July last year, detailed work and planning began on the processes required to gain certification for the other two Standards.
Commencing in August 2013, a series of audits were carried out by the British Standards Institution, initially at the Company’s UK Headquarters in Hazel Grove, continuing through autumn and covering the Company’s six other UK sites, including the training Academy in Hazel Grove. Each location was audited twice; once for the Environment Standard and then again for the Health & Safety Standard.

Following these audits and a compliance review at the British Standards Institution in early December, MDT-UK was awarded certification to ISO 14001 Environment Standard and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health & Safety Standards.
Led by David Rushton, MDT-UK’s Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Manager, this is a real achievement as not only have the three certifications been achieved twelve months in advance of the global organization’s requirements, it is also a major – and somewhat rare – accomplishment for one company to be awarded all three of these prestigious Standards.
Achieving these accreditations confirms MDT-UK’s commitment to continuous improvement of its management and business practices.

David would like to say thank you to staff at all locations for their time and efforts in generating this successful outcome.
